 2016 Preview 


       Last year Randolph County captured the region 5 title and a number one seed in the Class 2A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. Randolph County made a nice playoff run in 2015, reaching the semi-finals before falling to a very good Fyffe team by the score of 20-17.  The 592 points scored by the Tigers last year were a team record in a single season.

       Over the past two seasons the Tigers have gone 22-4 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Averaging over ten wins a season since 2010, Randolph County has gone a combined 42-24. Their 64.0% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 3A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Randolph County has managed to compile a record of 163-115. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 13th in Class 3A and 95th in the AHSAA.

       The Tigers are led by head coach Pat Prestridge who is entering his tenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 79-39 over the past ten seasons at Randolph County. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times. They have won one region crown with Coach Prestridge.

       Coach Prestridge's overall record as a head football coach in ten seasons stands at 79-39 (66.9%). Over the course of his career, Coach Prestridge's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times and won one region championship.

       The Tigers enter the 2016 season riding a 12 game regular season winning streak. Randolph County has won 7 consecutive region games. They have won 8 straight games on their home field at Hulond Humphries Stadium.

      The Randolph County Tigers will play in Class 3A region 5 during the 2016 season. The Tigers move up in classification to Class 3A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move.

       The Tigers have a good chance to earn one of the playoff slots for Region 5 this season.

       The Tigers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Barbour County on Friday, August 26 at Hulond Humphries Stadium. Last year the Barbour County Jaguars finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in seventh place in Class 3A region 2. The closed out the regular season with a loss to OPEN by a score of 999-999.

       Randolph County and Barbour County have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 2-0-0 record against the Jaguars. They last met in 2016 with Randolph County winning by a score of 41-6.

       Randolph County returns 2A All-State Junior receiver Andrew Prestridge. He was named to the honorable mention team last season.

  








Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Parrish scored a record 77 points in a playoff game against Cedar Bluff in 2001. The Tornados were shutout the following week 19-0 by Courtland.
